I am excited... although I will miss my V10, the V8 will have some much needed torque, and I am sure Dinan will have a bag of tricks shortly after!

I have nearly 50k miles on my M5 and have loved every moment of it... but it may be time to move on once the F10 M5 lands...

Me too, G! Hoepfully we get some more info after the Geneva show wraps up. I saw a black E60 M5 on the road last night - I still love how she looks! The new M5 will be a beast though...

These renderings should hold us over for a bit.

Did they literally shrink the 7 series and just badge it as the 5 series? Although I don't dislike it as much as I did when I saw the renderings of the new 7 series. The tail still looks like a lexus with BMW badging though.

I have a feeling the F10 5er will look better in person than it does in pictures!

BMW is equipping the new 5 Series with technology and components found in the 7 Series models, parts that account for as much as 70%.

One major component: rear suspension set up. BMW Installs Top-End 7-Series?s Parts in Cheaper Car (Update2) - BusinessWeek

What I will say about the Lexus/BMW badge comment is...BMW continues to set the standard in auto engineering and design. Regardless of what some may believe, Bangle era cars had a major influence on other automakers. One that comes to mind is the Hofmeister Kink. Wait...BMW took that from Loewry Kink (Studebaker).

I quite prefer this understated, sleeper look. Go 200MPH or go to a business meeting.

EDIT: I like it a lot. Just like this..

For some reason pictures only flatter the most beautiful cars (Alfa 8C, Zonda, etc) to me. I am always skeptical when I see certain cars for the first time in pictures (996, 458 Italia, current S-Class). But when you see them in person, or in motion, sometimes it all changes...

I admit when I first saw a new E60 sedan many years back, I was severely disappointed (considering the previous gen was so pretty). But once I saw an E60 M5 in person, the subtle aero tweaks, the wheels, the whole package just made sense.

Just enough menace while retaining the business-oriented look:

The interior was very classy, very modern, and clean:

And I believe the same will hold true with the F10 M5. In certain pictures, it has looked like a small 7 series with some strange proportions and a decidedly non-sporting look. But I am sure in person it will all make sense. I am very much looking forward to seeing it!
