Looks-wise the new 5 blows away the E Class

My opinion of course but I'd take the 5 over the E anyday

I like the front of the E better but everything else goes to the 5.

I hate to say it, but the new 5 looks like an upsized 3 series. I'd still take it over the E-Class (which looks like a Lexus GS to me), but the last gen 5 series was so different, so interesting. We'll see when the new 5 has a real bodykit on it... bring on the new M5!

+1. The 5-er doesn't look bad up front but I think that the E-class will age better. That being said, MB clearly missed the mark with the Hyundai-esque tail lights and bland interior.

Naw, sorry I am Benz guy, yeah the interior is bland as always, but the outside is more distinct than the 5. All Bimmers look the same to me, you always have to look close to see if it is a 3, 5 or 7.
Never liked the Bimmers gauges, steering wheel and shifter.

I'll take the E please.

sad that these once beautiful and elegant sedans have evolved into their present shape. I don't like the look on them compared to previous generations

Prefer the 5 to the E, but Mercedes are doing a good job at spicing up their range recent year. IMHO the Beemers really need to be seen in real life to be given an honest review. Pics aren't flattering of the lines...

I was thinking the new 5 looks like a scaled-down 7!

^^^^+1, you'd have to look real hard to find differences b/w the 5 & 7 besides size
