2 wheels to go with the 4...

Due to a friend an old passion was rekindled a couple of weeks ago. After an absence of some 30 years the biking bug seems to have gotten me and I've bought a BMW F800GS. I took the MSF course and found it to be superb. I'm just getting to know the bike. Any tips from old hacks or folk who have gotten back into biking after a long break are welcome.

Not an old hack, but sure got some tips.

ATGATT, and ride as if every single person and vehicle is out there to get you.

I like that Bimmer, should be a great bike.

Nice score! Congrats!

I went on a 6 year hiatus and returned 2 years ago. The best advice I can give you is to ride by yourself until you get comfortable again. It's far to easy to get caught up with riders who are on a different level.

Any modifications planned?

You have yourself a great bike...

Just please remember that your reaction time may not be as good as it was 30 year ago

Point taken and much appreciated. Thankfully, I live in a rural community with low traffic. Even so, there are crazies out there.

I've ordered the Wild@Heart crash bars but may switch the order to Adventure Spec crash bars and their bash plate. I've only done about 70 miles on the bike and it is still quite stiff and clunky and I will wait to see if any exhaust mods may be done. I'm leaning towards getting softbags rather than hard cases but the clip on type that fit behind the pillion are looking attractive.

I've just turned 50 and need all my faculties to be in a reasonable state! Whilst humorous, you make a valid point. I'm trying to ride well within my comfort zone.

Thanks for the input folks. Much appreciated.
