General maintenance for first seven years of the car's life
Geneva sees the introduction of an innovative service for all new Ferrari owners.

With effect from March in Europe, and on other markets during the course of the year, clients ordering a Ferrari California, 458 Italia or FF from the authorised dealership network will be entitled to a free seven-year standard maintenance programme.

Genuine Maintenance is Ferrari's exclusive service that ensures that its cars are maintained to the highest level for maximum performance and safety.

The programme is unique – this is the first time a car manufacturer offers such cover worldwide and is evidence of the attention paid by Ferrari to its clients.

The Genuine Maintenance programme covers the individual vehicle, and thus extends to any eventual subsequent owner.

The programme covers the workmanship for the programmed maintenance along with the relative original spare parts, engine oil and brake fluid.

The advantage to the owner is the assurance that the vehicle will be subject to regular annual inspection by Ferrari-trained personnel using factory-approved dedicated diagnostic equipment.

This is incredible and says so much about the brand. Even more impressive is the ability to transfer.

TTM0TION 04-26-2011 10:32 PM

If this proves to be true and actually covers what it implies than I am extremely impressed. Bravo Ferrari, I am sure this notion to it's customer's will pay dividends for them.

Mini George 04-26-2011 10:44 PM

Ferrari FTW! This will definitely bring more customers

djantlive 04-26-2011 10:47 PM

is this at an extra cost?

MarkoRamius 04-26-2011 10:49 PM

They haven't included the 599 GTO or SA Aperta?

It's a good way to go....I'll buy one now

Is there no mileage limit? Straight up seven years no matter how it's driven?

I have a feeling this will help resale value too. Knowing a 15 year old Ferrari (down the road) was regularly maintained by Ferrari itself for half of it's life is a good selling point.

And to add on to this they should improve quality. Specifically their paint jobs.

Barrister 04-27-2011 02:05 AM

Wow!!!

Nice idea to gain more customers. The 458 is already owned by about 80% first time Ferrari buyers because old customers aren't biting anymore. I'm guessing this will grab a few but hindsight the 7 years of service is about $5k total for "mandatory" stuff so Ferrari is just giving in on a little of my guess 150k in profit on the 458.

Love to see this!

raclaims 04-27-2011 11:21 AM

I'm really glad they did this AFTER I bought my car.
Just great.

I think it shows that they expect the newer cars to be far more reliabable.

MeanMachine 04-27-2011 11:32 AM

That's pretty good.

Is 150k per car an accurate estimate of the profits? I have always wondered, but never known. I would have guessed much less.

My guess is it costs Ferrari less than 100k to produce the new cars.

I remember reading somewhere that a Murci at the time in the early 2000's cost in the $80k range to produce.

This is speculation and only Ferrari really knows.

Ooooo wooow, smoke and mirrors. The price you pay trumps it many times over. Same with any other company offering this And will barely cost them. Hey, got to do something to sell those right.

ADV.1 Matt 04-27-2011 02:33 PM

I think if anything it speaks to the fact that the reliability and build quality of the cars has significantly improved in recent years.

i certainly agree...

and also, a 15 year old car maintained the first 7 wouldn't be worth anymore - it could still be worth peanuts. a lot can happen in 8 years. hell i have personally seen a lot happen (AMG motor destroyed) in 2 months.
