This 2007 987-generation Cayman coupe has been modified to the tune of about $200,000 over a three-year period. The result is striking.

Vlogger Cody Groom of the YouTube channel Driving Cody recently spent some time talking to the builder of the stunning Porsche Cayman pictured here. Groom recently did a feature on the Cayman owner’s other car, an NA-gen Mazda Miata that was also built for the annual SEMA in Las Vegas, which is one of the largest aftermarket shows in existence. “They’re both done up in a similar way but at the same time very different,” says Cody in the video that covers how the Porsche has been modified over the last three years.

The car was built by its owner Dionne Mascunana, who has modified the Cayman bodywork with a wide body kit sourced from Japanese company Tra-Kyoto, who make the popular line of Pandem bodykits.Mascunana says that it also happens to be the first ever of it’s kind fitted to a Cayman. “It was literally shipped to me as soon as it got out of the manufacturing plant in Kyoto.” The front bumper has been modified to accept the grill opening from a MazdaSpeed front bumper originally designed for an RX8, which Mascunana refers to as a “happy face.” In addition to the massive rear wing the Cayman has been modified with an extensive list of aerodynamic enhancements. The livery on the paint job is the same as the design that Porsche themselves used on their LeMans entry. Spyder Auto headlights were installed as were functional air extractors on the tops of the fenders. As a weight saving measure the factory glass has been replaced with lighter panels made of polycarbonate. “The glass looks like OEM to most people,” says Mascunana.

Appropriately sized wheels and tires were needed to fill out the Porsche newly widened bodywork. In this case Mascunana sourced a set of Werkmeister M1 wheels that measure 19×11-inches at the front and 19×14-inches in the back, shod with super sticky Proxes Toyo rubber. Suspension consists of special “Toyo Edition” Moton 3-way adjustable coilovers. The Cayman’s powerplant has been upgraded a full array of bolt-ons, including an intake, headers and exhaust as well as aftermarket pulleys, etc.

Inside the modifications to the Cayman continue. The stock seats have been swapped for a set of purposeful-looking Recaro P1300 GT seats which sit in front of a roll bar from GMG. There is also a custom center console, a smaller MOMO steering wheel and a titanium shift knob installed atop a CAE short shifter. Future plans for the Cayman include a twin turbo motor that will be built by Southern California Porsche specialists Bisimoto. “The plan is to do a twin-turbo setup, with a goal of around 600 to 640 horses,” says Mascunana, who can be found on Instagram here: @thecaymangang.
