U.K. Superstars’ Cars Steal Spotlight at CCA Auction
Auction featuring luxury rides from Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay and ‘Mr. Bean’ actor Rowan Atkinson is a huge online success.
Over 160 rare and unique cars were offered for sale across 16 days during the U.K.-based Classic Car Auctions‘ (CCA) recent first timed sale, resulting in $2.13 million worth of cars sold.
The first day of the auction set the tone, with nine out of the 10 cars offered being sold. Big sellers included “Mr. Bean” actor Rowan Atkinson’s personal 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500E (pictured above), which netted $34,450.
Musician and Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay’s 1972 BMW 1602 sold for $20,603. This was followed by a 1976 Rolls-Royce formerly owned by Kay selling for $38,504.
“This is a fantastic achievement from the team,” says Gary Dunne, Classic Car Auctions’ Manager. “The results achieved in these circumstances is astonishing. This auction was a feat but, in the end, we made it happen in a safe and responsible way.”
Also among the lots was a stunning 1962 Porsche 356 B T6 Super Coupe (pictured above) that sold for $78,300. Several other cars exceeded expectations, too, including two early Jaguars from the same family: a fixed head 1955 XK140 (pictured below) sold for $53,365, and a 1966 Series 1 E-Type (pictured second photo from top) nabbed $52,000.
An Aston Martin V8, which needed completion, sold for $64,850, and a 1986 Audi Quattro Turbo sold for $32,760.
The next CCA live online auction is set to take place on June 13.
