Travis Scott’s JackBoys Bring the Rides to the (Junk) Yard!
From cool custom Acuras and Mazdas, to the infamous Tesla Cybertruck, Scott & Co. send-off 2019 with bangin’ new video!
Hip hop and cars. A match made in music Valhalla for as long as anyone can remember. Back in the 1980s, Public Enemy warned the posers not to mess with their Oldsmobile 98, Erik B. & Rakim rolled up to rap battles in their Saab 900, and Sir Mix-a-Lot cruised the streets of Seattle in a Mercedes 380 SEL stretch limo.
In the 2020s, things are no different, though the cars on display certainly are. We happened upon a new video from Travis Scott’s new collective, JackBoys, not too long ago, and it’s got quite a few choice rides.
“Gang Gang” takes into an undisclosed junkyard, where we see a yellow Mazda RX7 and a rally-ready BMW M3 lighting up the crushed corpses of cars whose glory days had long since passed. There’s also a white BMW M3 hiding behind the rally car, and a few more whips out of view.
Speaking of the obscured, the JackBoys (which include Sheck Wes, and Don Toliver) surround an unusual car, whose panels are triangular polycarbonate. Said car is the United Nude Lo Res Car, commissioned by Dutch shoe company United Nude in 2016. As the name implies, it’s a “low-resolution” take on the sports car, specifically the Lamborghini Countach.
Speaking of lo-res rides, you can’t get any more lo-res than the Tesla Cybertruck and Cyberquad. The Eighties sci-fi rig you can reserve with a $100 deposit isn’t out of place in the video, its cold light and gray angular body adding to the gritty, dark theme.
And of course, it can’t be a Tesla starring role without a flamethrower from Elon Musk’s Boring Company. All that’s needed now are a pair of sledgehammer marks on the driver’s side window, and a surprise cameo from the space-faring Roadster.
Back on earth, the JackBoys have a whole gang of rides to conquer the junkyard with. There’s a trio of Acura NSXs, another RX7 in black, a silver fourth-gen Toyota Supra, and a first-gen Datsun 240Z. There are two other cars in the back, but none of us can make out what they are.
The “Gang Gang” video is one of a handful of videos unleashed by JackBoys on Scott’s YouTube channel in late December 2019, each one featuring all sorts of cars in the same dark setting as the above video. Why not check them out?
