May 23 live online auction to include three Beemers from Jamiroquai’s Jay Kay’s personal collection, among other exclusive and exotic vehicles.

U.K. auction house Silverstone Auctions will get its next live online auction underway on May 23 with a stunning catalog of nearly 100 rare classics and modern supercars.

Among the lots on offer are three BMWs direct from Jamiroquai musician Jay Kay, who is well known for his exclusive collection of cars.

1972 BMW 3.0 CSL

The first of the BMWs is a 1 of 500 1972 3.0 CSL E9s (pictured above) made in right-hand drive and finished in Chamonix White with 62,000 miles on the clock. This version also has, from new, the City Pack which included electric windows, additional soundproofing, and full bumpers and wheel arch extensions.

The owner prior to Kay found the car in storage where it had been for a number of years and set about restoring it to its original beauty. The history file shows the extent to which the previous owner went to ensure this car would be one of the finest CSLs. Now offered by the musician for an estimated $164,600 to $189,000.

1983 BMW Alpina B9 3.5 (E28) Manual

The second BMW is a rare right-hand-drive 1983 Alpina B9 3.5 (E28) with a manual gearbox (pictured above and below). It is thought to be one of only 18 available in this specification.

The last of Kay’s BMWs is a 1987 E30 that has been developed into a competition specification car (pictured below). It was then prepared for Kay to drive it in the Rally Isla Mallorca in March 2020 as Car Zero. Both cars are on offer at $30,500 to $37,200 and $58,500.12 to $68,300, respectively.

1987 BMW M3 Competition Pack

Also ready to hit the block is a modern supercar and one that can be described as a best-of-breed example: a 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG (pictured below).

2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

The car has 12,700 miles from new, right-hand drive, and is finished in Obsidian Black with Classic Red leather interior. With a 6.2-liter V8 and 563bhp under the bonnet and a race start launch control system, the rare ride is expected to go for between $152,400 and $170,700.

A 1984 Maserati Merak SS–the later and rarer version fitted with the Bora Dashboard and originally U.K.-supplied–is being presented in an unrestored and original condition with 16,000 miles. It comes with a full history, and even the spare wheel still has its original sticker on it. It is being offered at an estimated $79,260 to $91,450.

Another mentionable rarity is a 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale that is expected to go for $67,000 to $79,200. This super-rare car was designed by Scaglione. Once used as a road car prior to being converted to competition use, it acquired FIA papers in 2005 and in 2011 joined a large UK private collection. This is a nicely prepared and maintained car supplied with its Italian documents and a sizeable history file. This is a wonderful opportunity to acquire a classic streamlined Alfa.

“We are very honored that Jay Kay has entrusted three BMWs to us from his personal collection,” said Harry Whale, Silverstone Auctions Sales Manager. “These cars are superb examples of the BMW marque and the CSL is quite outstanding.â€
