Record-breaking Zef Eisenberg Aims to Set New Speed Goal

Will racer’s custom Porsche 911 Turbo S hit 200 mph at Pendine Sands on April 6?

Zef Eisenberg is addicted to speed. So much so that after surviving a near-fatal motorcycle accident in 2016, he was back racing and breaking records within a year.

Now, the land speed racer and record-setting motorcycle rider has a new target in sight. On the weekend of April 6, 2019, Eisenberg hopes to become the first person to achieve a British land speed record on bike and car within a year. The record-setting attempt will take place at Pendine Sands in South Wales.

Eisenberg’s goal is to hit 200 miles per hour in a 1200 horsepower Porsche 911 Turbo S. The road-legal vehicle has been specially built by his MADMAX Race Team.

In May 2018, Eisenberg became the first person to exceed 200mph with a wheel-driven vehicle. On his supercharged Suzuki Hayabusa, Eisenberg reached 201.572 miles per hour, winning the marker as the ‘fastest motorbike on sand’ in the world. This came just 20 months after surviving Britain’s fastest-ever (230mph) motorcycle crash.

Eisenberg has set numerous records since that crash, including an ACU sanctioned flying quarter-mile, flying kilometer, and flying mile. All of these were on his MADMAX road legal, supercharged Suzuki Hayabusa.

For his newest goal, Eisenberg settled on a 2015 550hp Porsche 911 Turbo S. With the help of his MADMAX team, they bespoke a 4.2-litre Porsche motorsport engine. They added new stronger internals, upgraded Turbos, a new E85 fuel system, and advanced cooling set-up.

The Pendine Sands attempt comes 55 years after John Surtees won the Formula One title and became the first man to win the world championship on two wheels and four. So far, no one else has beaten that record, however Eisenberg thinks he has the goods to win.

“I’ve well and truly caught the speed addiction,” says Eisenberg in race promotional materials. “It’s in my blood. Each run itself might only be between 25 and 40 seconds, but a new record is just the icing on the cake after years of research and experimentation. Those who are addicted to speed will understand. It’s all about the quest to overcome the challenge and battle the laws of physics.”
