Seeing double? Silverstone Auctions has a pair of F-Type GT cars and a pair of Aston Martin Rally GT cars ready for bidding.

There is no better place to buy a race car than at the race track. This is why Silverstone Auctions, based out of the legendary British Grand Prix track, is the perfect fit for these stunning racing vehicles. Silverstone Auctions was founded as a specialized auction house back in 2011. The emphasis of the company is the sale of classic cars, supercars, competition vehicles, and historic motorcycles. They host a a variety of stand-alone auctions at the track on a yearly basis. This time around, their specials include some vehicles of particularly British heritage: a pair of Aston Martins and a pair of Jaguars.

However, these aren’t just any British sports coupes, these pairs are both are purpose-built race cars. Both of these “lots” hold very special value, more than surface deep. In order to understand why, we have to explain a little bit about each of these pairs of racing cars. Let’s start with the Aston Martins, aka lot no. 213.

This pair of Aston Martin Vantage Rally GT Cars were built by the legendary racing team and engineering company Prodrive. Only four of these cars were ever made and these are two of those examples. Chassis “RAL 7Y” is a complete car that makes 420 WHP, features a GEMS dash, Hewland six-speed sequential gearbox, and rose-jointed suspension. Chassis “OU06 ETJ” is not a finished chassis, but rather is currently stripped in a “lightweight” specification as it was intended to complete in the European GT rally class.

Since 2005, Prodrive has been running the Aston Martin Racing program. After success with the V8 Vantage in other racing classes, they determined the chassis was suitable for rally racing as well. As a result, these cars came to be. Both cars will come with a huge “spares package” which includes approximately 50 wheels and tires, 3 extra sequential gearboxes, and many more parts. Considering the rarity of these vehicles, the estimate of £90,000 – £110,000 is a very tempting price point to the right buyer.

Moving onto the Jaguars, aka lot No. 226, we have a pair of F-Type GT4 cars. These beautiful race coupes are much more important than the sum of their parts. The sponsor of these two vehicle is Invictus Games, a international adaptive multi-sport event for injured and wounded armed services personnel. This event was created by Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex. Thus, in 2018, Invictus Racing was created to offer those who had suffered in wartime a chance to compete in the 2018-19 British GT Championship. In collaboration with Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations division, these two SVR F-Types were created to fit GT4 specification.

While both chassis did participate in racing, “Car 44” was only used as a test car for the 2019 season. Both vehicles have been converted to RWD, have modified engines for competition, motorsport-based brakes, wheels, tires, suspension, and transmission components. While the Invictus Racing team struggled with success during their first season, the second would see success including a race win at Oulton Park in the GT4 Pro-Am class. Just like the Aston Martins, these Jaguars are offered with a full collection of spares for race use. The £200,000 – £250,000 estimate seems even more attractive considering the amazing story following these unique Jaguars.
