'Pure McLaren' Thermal Club Event Begins with a Special Delivery

SoCal venue played host for McLaren’s one-of-a-kind track program and a special delivery of a McLaren 570S.

Pure McLaren is McLaren Automotive’s traveling customer track day experience. During its first year in North America and the second event of the season, McLaren brought it’s supercars to the beautiful Thermal Club located in sunny Thermal, California. Along with the cars ripping around the track, the event was also the location for a one-of-a-kind delivery.

The exclusive Pure McLaren program gives owners and potential owners an opportunity to experience the utmost potential of McLaren’s sports and supercar offerings. Drivers can opt for a half-day course with sessions in a McLaren 570S or McLaren 720S or a full-day experience in the driver’s personal McLaren. An additional two-and-a-half-day long Performance Academy Race Level 3 course behind the wheel of a McLaren 570S GT4 race car is also offered.

A few months ago at the Argento Ball to benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation, a special McLaren 570S Spider was auctioned off. Sold with a top bid of $948,000 the McLaren was queued up for delivery at the Pure McLaren Thermal Club event. “We are thrilled with the success of the Argento Ball,” said Elton John in a press statement. “Funds raised can make a real impact for our work with young people.

To help with the delivery of the special 570S Spider was McLaren founder Bruce McLaren‘s daughter, Amanda McLaren. The car is painted in Blade Silver, which honors the “silver anniversary” of the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Along with the commemorative paint job, the car features red/stealth accents, red brake calipers, 10-spoke lightweight wheels, and a Sports Exhaust to top it all off.

‘The benefit of Pure McLaren is that it doesn’t matter whether it’s your first time on track or if you are an experienced driver, the program can be tailored to guarantee your level of knowledge grows deeper.’

“Whether on the street or on track, McLaren builds cars that are meant to be driven,” said Tony Joseph, President, McLaren North America. “The benefit of Pure McLaren is that it doesn’t matter whether it’s your first time on track or if you are an experienced driver, the program can be tailored to guarantee your level of knowledge grows deeper, which helps you get the most enjoyment out of your car. It was especially great to see this special 570S Spider, which was purchased to benefit a good cause, taken immediately to the track – an environment where the car feels at home.”
