Porsche Design 911 Soundbar Special Edition

Designed from the muffler and tailpipe of the Porsche 911 GT3, this might be the coolest audio system we’ve ever seen.

Driving a great car is a lot like like listening to a great song. It makes your heart pump stronger, your adrenaline surge, and your senses heighten. Porsche Design took this idea and went in a literal direction. Merging Porsche’s impeccable style with optimal audio, they launched the Porsche 911 Soundbar in 2016.

Inspired by the 4.0-liter naturally aspirated engine, the 911 Soundbar embodies the 911’s euphonic note in a home audio system. Now they have rolled out a Special Edition 911 Soundbar. Limited to only 500 units, the special edition has a bevy of upgrades. However, the design is truly special. Form meets function by using the original exhaust-pipe from the 911 GT3.

As expected, Porsche has cranked up the horsepower. The new handcrafted speaker has more wattage, and uses a 2.1 virtual surround system for a rich, full sound. Other features include a Dolby Digital decoder, Dolby Atmos, Bluetooth interface, wireless aptX technology, 4K compatibility, HDMI imputs, LED display, lip-sync function, and one slick remote control.

Visually, it is a knockout. The 911 is a marvel as it is, and finished in matte with glossy black gives it more texture and sleek, timeless appeal. The white base really makes the unit stand out. If if it housed an AM radio, we’d be tempted.

Of course, this is Porsche. So it utilizes top-tier luxury in every aspect to ensure a superior audio experience. But despite all the bells and whistles, it is user-friendly, has analog components, and is easy to connect. There are a number of options for adjusting bass and treble so you get the right sound for your tunes or your home theatre system.

It’s an incredibly unique item for any Porsche fan. And we could all use a taste of Porsche at it’s most rockin’ at home beyond the garage.

The price tag comes in at $4,750. Handmade in Germany, each 911 Soundbar includes a plaque with sequential limited edition numbers. The new 911 Soundbar Special Edition will hit stores in December. If you’d like to let Santa know; they are sold at Porsche Design stores, select authorized dealers, or at Porsche Design’s website.

On its own, it looks like a piece of flat-six artwork. But turn it up to 11, and it will rattle the walls.
