Check Out the Best Porsche Carrera GT Pics On the Net!
When a very cool Team Speed forum thread resurfaced recently, we trawled through to pick out our favorite Carrera GT photos.
The Carrera GT, Porsche’s mid-2000s mid-engined wonder car, started out as a proposal for a Le Mans race car and went on to become a force of Porsche’s engineering nature. A race-bred 604-hp 68-degree V-10 brute of an engine connects to the gearbox through a lightweight ceramic clutch and will kick the car to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. According to some though, that’s a conservative figure.
The Carrera GT chassis is a pure carbon fiber monocoque and subframe unit with carbon-Kevlar seats showing just how dedicated Porsche was to keeping things light and strong. The tech and design are advanced enough that Popular Science magazine awarded the Carrera GT its “Best of What’s New” award in 2003. Despite all the finesse in the chassis though, the Carrera GT not a subtle affair to drive. Porsche cranked the technology up to 10 to take some competition to the Ferrari Enzo and, as we can see from some of the pictures, sits happily next to any of the legendary supercars from the past few decades.
One of the earlier eyeball-grabbing pictures from the epic TeamSpeed forum thread comes from forum user DM1, who has neighbors that think he’s crazy for keep taking pictures of his cars being stored in his garage. With that kind of garage full of wonderful supercars, we think that’s perfectly sane behavior. After all, you can’t drive them all day, every day.
User RufMD dropped some wonderful spotting pictures including the following gem from a meet at the Ace Cafe in London. A spot more known for its motorbike culture but far from ignored by the car crowd in the UK.
These and the following gallery are just the pictures that we consider as the highlights of this almost 300-page thread, so do take a look through. If you have something to add, then please do and help keep The Carrera GT Picture Thread up to date.
