Porsche 911 changes exterior colors and wheels several times over the course of four years.

If you like to look at great pictures of the Porsche 991 911 GT3, this thread by “BaderAbbas” is a great way to kill some time at work. This thread has been regularly updated for nearly four years and over that time, the sleek German sports car has gone through a series of total transformations. To be more specific, this 911 has changed exterior colors five times while the wheel color has changed from black to copper to black to copper.

While it doesn’t sound all that exciting, this 911 owner has done a great job of giving his Porsche a whole new look at every refresh.

The Introduction

The OP first started this build thread back on July 19, 2015 and since then, the discussion has spanned four years and four pages, with scores of pictures as this Porsche 911 has showcased many different looks. When he first introduced his GT3, he offered a bit of detail on the effort required to get the car and his plans for the immediate future.

Hello Everyone,

Hope all is well, a quick introduction I just got my 991 GT3 last week, so far in love with the car. Its my 1st Porsche, was between this and a BMW M6 Gran Coupe. In my country of Saudi Arabia, the dealer never ordered any GT3’s. Only Carrera S/4S, & Tubros. Only GT3’s in the country are the ones ordered by the clients themselves. So its safe to say the GT3 is rare in Saudi, I couldn’t find any for sale, and the dealer couldn’t order me any so I got one from Dubai.

Here are the plans for the car:
-Wheels to be painted gloss black.
-Car to be fully wrapped in another color.
-Carbon bits for the interior & exterior.
-Centerlock aftermarket forged wheels (recommend a style)
-Exhaust ( still deciding on which to get, recommendations?)

The OP also shared pictures of his 911 in some relatively low quality pictures, but rest assured, the pictures get a whole lot better over the years. The OP seemingly knows a bunch of automotive photographers who take incredible pictures of his car, so really, this is a long picture thread more than a build thread. Yes, he mentions the upgrades over the year, but in all reality, this is a car-porn thread.

Going Blue

The first big change for this 991 GT3 came less than a month after the initial post and that big change was an exterior wrap, changing the 911 from white to bright metallic blue. This first exterior refresh also included light window tint and the wheels were painted gloss black.

Most importantly, the first refresh came with the first batch of really good pictures.

White Makes a Return

Six months later or so, the OP updated his build thread with some bad news that led to an all-new look.

So here is the latest update, about a few months ago I had a mini car accident which lead to the wrap being damaged on 1 side of the car. It did protect the car from getting scratched.

So, with the wrap being damaged, the OP went with a new look, white with unique GT3RS stripes on the sides and over the top. This refresh also included a long list of upgrades inside and out.

Also my parts came in, so I shipped my car to Bydesign Motorsport on the eastern region of Saudi. I just got it back a few days ago, and this is the outcome.

Of course, a new look came with lots of new, high resolution pictures. In fact, over the course of the next few months, the OP made new posts with professional pictures from different photographers, all of which showcased the 991 GT3 beautifully.

Going Gold

In December of 2016, shared his latest update and while the body color didn’t change this time, the wheel color and stripe color did, along with a few other items.

Another update, seems every time I come here my car gets a facelift lol.
Here are the latest mods:
-HRE P101 in Copper
-997 gt3rs 4.0 Livery stripes in Copper & Black
-All exterior Carbon finish changed to Gloss carbon, was originally matte carbon
-Canards in Carbon
-Extended paddle shifters in carbon
-Chrono Clock eye lid in Carbon
-Competition Porsche Exhaust, will post about a full review of it later

911 Gold wheels

This update included a ton more pictures of the car from all sorts of angles and with this iteration, the OP liked the look of his Porsche so much that he had cool little cartoony stickers made.

Fade to Grey

The next update came in late 2017, but it wasn’t good news. The OP explained that he ran into engine issues that led to him being without the car for 110 days, but once it was back up and running, it was time for a new look.

The GT3 went back to the wrap shop, where it was switched from white to Nardo Grey with 997.2 GT3RS stripes in copper and black. This look also included lighter-colored copper wheels, but during this batch of photography, he included some with the Nardo Grey exterior and stock wheels in gloss black.

While enjoying the 911 in this iteration, the OP changed steering wheels, gotten new tire stickers and driven the car all over Saudi Arabia. Along the way, he had a scale model expert make perfect 24th scale replicas of this Porsche with its current grey look and the previous white look.

The current look has also gotten a new exhaust system.

Went and got an IPE Catless Exhaust with headers, in love with the sound.

This batch of pictures includes some interesting Photoshop work of this 991 on a Hot Wheels package, on a Need For Speed video game package and hanging out with some fictitious characters like SpongeBob and Spiderman.

911 Grey

Green with Pride

Finally, in April of 2019, the OP shared the latest update on his Porsche 991 GT3, including another all-new exterior look.

GT3 in Green

Here’s the 4 month update lol
-Car is now wrapped in a Green/ Black Iridescent color with 991R/ Porsche classic stripes in Gloss black with Yellow.
-HRE Wheels are redone in a satin black with yellow outline.
-Calipers are in black with yellow lettering.”

This classic racing-inspired livery looks incredible and, in our humble opinion, this is the best look of this 911 over the years. The combination of the dark metallic green, black and yellow trim looks amazing on the curvy figure of the 991.

While there have been several videos of this Porsche posted in the thread over the past few years, most of them just have music playing over them, preventing us from getting a good example of the exhaust. Fortunately, the short video below has a decent exhaust clip towards the end, but above all, this video shows how great the GT3 looks with this dark green wrap.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
