Photographer Uses Visual Tricks on Toy Audi R8 for Realistic Photos

There are good photographers, and then there are great photographers. Using only a car and some unique props and settings, Felix Hernandez Rodriguez makes a model car look as good, if not better, than the real thing.

Being asked by Audi to photograph their new R8 is a tall order by any measure. It had to take some guts to use a model car, but Rodriguez pulled it off. How did he do it? He didn’t use any photoshop or manipulations. Rather, he built scale environments around the toy car in order to trick the eye.

The photo above depicting a beach setting is really amazing. Using an actual coast as a back drop, Felix then built a scale beach on a platform. With clever placement of the faux scene, and the real coastline, the R8 becomes almost indiscernible from the real thing.
