Lightning Fast Mosler Consulier GTP Up For Auction

Before Mosler made the MT900, which we all know and love, it was preceded by the Consulier. The Consulier, although not exactly pretty, was one of the fastest production cars in its time. Despite being powered by a humble Mopar four cylinder, Mosler themselves put up a challenge for any other production car to be faster around a circuit than the Consulier.

This particular example of a 1990 Mosler Consulier GTP is currently up for auction on Bring A Trailer, and I’m quite fond of it. Perhaps it’s because the Consulier was one of the under-dog stories of IMSA racing, and perhaps I am also good friends with Bob McKee, famous for his Can-Am cars, but a man who also played a crucial role as an engineer for the Consulier.

The current owner has done a thorough sorting of the car’s mechanical systems, so it will be ready to drive for the next owner. Included in the list is a full re-build of the suspension and brakes, and an overhaul of the Chrysler Turbo II engine, with some other slight enhancements here and there. Given the current bid of $16,000 (with two full days left in the auction), this Consulier is a downright bargain if you’re looking for a unique track weapon.
