Mercedes-Benz Reveals new SL63 AMG

During today’s F1 test session at the Barcelona circuit in Spain, Mercedes-Benz revealed to in the flesh the all-new SL63 AMG Roadster.

Set to go on sale this summer, the new two seat-er was introduced in front of a mass of international press representatives in an atypical under-the-radar presentation alongside their new F1 car, the MGP W03. Mercedes AMG Petronas drivers, Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg. were amongst the presenters.

Power will be provided from AMG’s latest M157 engine. The twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V8, already used in the E63, CLS63, S63, CL63 and ML63, has been tuned to deliver 529bhp. The SL63 sprints from 0-62mph in 4.3 seconds, or 4.2 seconds with the AMG Performance pack, and features AMG Sports Suspension and an Active Body Control system to prevent roll in corners.

New Lightweight aluminum and magnesium used throughout the new model is said to reduce weight by 125kg over the previous generation SL Model.
