This is the car your teenage daughter will be begging you for. Our trusty Teamspeed spies bring us the best spy-shots yet of the all-new Mercedes A-class, spied in the snowy northern Sweden this morning. The overall shape of this next-generation A-class is looking very BMW 1 series-like and very different from the current MPV-style A-class. It seems that Mercedes-Benz is setting up the 2012 A-class as a direct competitor to the BMW 1-Series and the Audi A3 in a way that it never was before.

As we have previously reported, the 2012 A-class will ride on the new MFA platform which also underpins the new B-class. Engine options will likely carryover from its bigger brother, so expect five petrols with outputs ranging from 109 to 209 hp. There should also be four diesels with 122 to 204 hp.
