McLaren Celebrates its Racing Heritage with 570S Sextuplet
Honoring the rich history of McLaren in motorsports can’t be done with just one car. So they built six special MSO rides!
McLaren is a company with a rich racing history. One worth celebrating, of course. Thus, the automaker commissioned a sextuplet of special 570S models through McLaren Special Operations (MSO) by McLaren Beverly Hills to do just that. The special group of cars sporting legendary liveries, dubbed Racing Through the Ages, made its public debut at the dealership during An Evening with MSO on December 11.
The lineup of McLaren 570S models consists of three different themes. Muriwai celebrates Bruce McLaren’s racing endeavors in New Zealand. Papaya Spark pays tribute to McLaren’s victories in orange throughout the ’60s and ’70s. As well as its continued use on modern Formula One cars. The automaker’s dominant Le Mans victory in 1995 inspired Sarthe Grey, the only time in history a manufacturer has won its debut at the legendary race.
Each theme is represented by a 570S coupe and 570S Spyder, and each of the six share some similarities. All feature an MSO-designed rear wing, GT4 racing stripe, MSO Defined Black Pack, gloss black 10-spoke super-lightweight forged wheels, and MSO Defined titanium SuperSports exhaust. On the inside, you’ll find a GT4 stripe, MSO logos, a “McLaren Orange 12 o’clock mark” on the steering wheel, and a numbered plaque.
The main differences between these McLaren models lies in their exterior colors, of course. Muriwai White symbolizes the white/blue waves of Muriwai Beach, New Zealand. Papaya Spark is an evolution of the papaya color on Bruce McLaren‘s racing cars in the ’60s and ’70s. And Sarthe Grey emulates the hue present on McLaren’s F1 GTR#01 racer from 1995.
Bespoke rides have quickly become a large part of McLaren’s business. But this special collection isn’t just your average unique spec. It also pays tribute to a very important component of the automaker’s rich motorsports history!
