Lamborghini Re-Creates Opening Sequence to “Italian Job” With Miura

Lamborghini sure knows how to stir the soul. And they do it with some very unusual timing. To celebrate 47 years since The Italian Job first hit theaters, Lamborghini sent a Miura to the exact film location of the opening sequence of the cult classic (shown below). We don’t mind that they have decided to celebrate the 50th anniversary three years early, because there’s never a bad time to look at Lamborghini’s iconic classic. Especially when it is slicing through mountain roads of the Grand Saint Bernard Pass, as beautifully detailed by Airows. Swiss and Italian alps, hairpin turns, and a Miura. Combinations in life don’t really come much better than that.

Lamborghini pulled out two classics for this shoot: a gold S and a striking yellow SV. To see these cars on this road again brings back memories of how Paramount captured that great V12 bellow. Thankfully, there’s no bulldozers at the end of a tunnel for these Lamborghinis. They get to return home in one piece. I have to admit in the back of my mind, I can quietly hear Matt Monro singing “On Days Like These”
