Lamborghini Plans to Stun with Two New Vehicles
Both are to be developed by Squadra Corse and will include the race-only Urus ST-X and a new V12-based hypercar.
It feels like it has been decades since we saw the release of the Lamborghini Aventador and Huracán. Well, rather unsurprisingly it has been many years. We first saw production of the Aventador flagship back in 2011, almost a decade ago. The Huracán has been well in rotation for 5+ years. Each of these cars have seemingly gone through dozens and dozens of new special edition models and now we are wondering what direction the Italian manufacturer plans to take for the future.
When will we see a new models to replace the long-standing sports coupes? Well, it seems the answer to that question has been revealed, at least in part. This reveal will be happening at the final race of the 2019 Super Trofeo season in Jerez De La Frontera, Spain.
We are still unsure whether or not this new V12-based model will be a dedicated race car with no street equivalent, but for now it seems that this will be the case due to the fact that the car is being developed solely by Squadra Corse, the brand’s racing-only division. Regardless of whether there will be a street car, it is a point for the future for the Italian automotive powerhouse and it will let us know the direction of the brand.
For now we understand that the car is limited edition and features the appropriate mechanical and aerodynamic balance to support 830 HP from a 6.5L naturally aspirated V12. This engine will be combined with a 6-speed sequential transmission from Xtrac. The silhouette of the car let’s us know that this green performance giant will be about speed and speed only. An extremely low roof line, streamlined aerodynamics and a huge rear wing are par for course.
While this is definitely executing news and we can’t wait to see the full reveal of this new vehicle, we can’t also forget about the Urus ST-X, the world’s first “Super SUV”. This will be the first SUV ever built strictly for racing and it still features the iconic twin-turbo V8 with substantial weight reduction. The first race for the ST-X will be in a years time at the 2020 World Finals at Misano World Circuit in Italy.
