Jaguar's New 2021 F-Type Convertible Sees North America Debut In Chicago

What’s better than the 2021 Jaguar F-Type? The convertible version, of course!

The Chicago Auto Show is very significant for North American markets as it is the nations first really big auto show of the year. Jaguar decided to use this show as a launch pad for the debut of the 2021 F-type and we were on hand to witness the car. Jaguar also included a special surprise with a world record, but more about that in a minute. Jaguar’s F-Type came with some news. Most notably, pricing is now released for their four different models available in 2021. MSRP numbers break down like this:

P300
Coupe: $61,600
Convertible: $64,700

P300 “First Edition”
Coupe: $73,100
Convertible: $75,400

P380
Coupe: $81,800
Convertible: $84,900

Type R
Coupe: $103,200
Convertible: $105,900

Jaguar‘s “First Edition” P300 will understandably be available only for 2021 models only. It’s a special edition package that can be picked on three colors. Santorini Black, Eiger Grey or Fiji White are the exterior options, but if you’re looking for a pop of color, you’ll see it on the inside.

Mars leather seats with Flame Red stitching were picked for the show car, and we have to say the result is amazing. Couple that with the Ebony suede-cloth surround for the gauges, and various aluminum trim pieces make for a modernized and exclusive, but familiar F-type interior.

We had mentioned a world record, so what was it? Well, it involved some very inexpensive cars. HotWheels cars were the gateway to a passion for cars for many of us, and Jaguar partnered with the model car company. The goal? Set a new record for the most loop-the-loops in a row. The new record is seven unassisted loops. But Jaguar didn’t stop there. According to our friends at JaguarForums, they added power boosters and more loops for a track length total of 69.5 feet.

More importantly, this partnership between Jaguar and HotWheels is open to college engineering programs to set up the most interesting configuration of HotWheels tracks possible. To make things interesting, HotWheels will supply the tracks, and all of it must be used. No more, no less. The winner of this “Ultimate Track Challenge” will see a $50,000 donation for their efforts. Not only that, but the Guiness Book of World Records will be involved too, to up the ante. If anyone put on a great show for a new model at the 2020 Chicago Auto Show, it was Jaguar.
