‘Hollywood Dream Machines,’ a Star Attraction at L.A.’s Petersen Auto Museum
You like them, you really like them! Newest exhibit shines the spotlight on some of the most exciting vehicles featured on the silver screen.
The newest offering from the Petersen Automotive Museum brings with it some serious star power. “Hollywood Dream Machines: Vehicles of Science Fiction and Fantasy” exhibit, opening May 5, will feature the largest collection of fantasy and science fiction fantasy vehicles in the world. Vehicles from such blockbusters as Star Wars, Blade Runner, and of course, many from the Marvel universe will be on display.
Produced in collaboration with Comic-Con Museum, the exhibition will feature over 40 additional iconic Hollywood vehicles, alongside artwork, props, and costumes from the films.
The Audi R8 V10 made famous by the Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War will be on display in a deconstructed state in the Grand Concourse of the Petersen Automotive Museum.
The unique Audi R8 V10 installation will feature an “exploded view” of the actual vehicle by suspending the car’s many components in midair on wires. Carefully staged alongside one of the Iron Man’s iconic red and gold armored costumes, the installation will give exhibit attendees the opportunity to contemplate the high-tech vehicle in an Instagram-ready display.
“We’re proud to highlight Audi and Marvel Studios’ connection in ’Hollywood Dream Machines,’” said Petersen Automotive Museum Executive Director Terry L. Karges. “This exhibit is a love letter to the science fiction and fantasy vehicles that spark our imaginations and the amazing technology of both Audi and Iron Man are a perfect example of this.”
Other key vehicles in the display will include a few notable Batmobiles, Black Panther‘s Lexus, the Warthog from Halo, the DeLorean from Back to the Future, the Weyland Industries RT01 Group Transport from Prometheus, Bumblebee from the Transformers series, the GM Ultralight from Demolition Man, along with a uniquely immersive Microsoft HoloLens experience.
The exhibit runs until March 15, 2020, and information about tickets can be found on the Petersen website.
