Sales of RX, NX, and UX hybrid models set overseas sales record.

Lexus Europe has found that helping to save the environment has immediate gratification — in this case, it’s in the form of a sales milestone reached by the company for sales of its hybrid vehicles. European sales of Lexus hybrid SUVs have passed a quarter of a million sales. Recorded in late February, the total represents cumulative sales since the RX 400h, the world’s first luxury hybrid vehicle, debuted in 2005.

As Lexus longest-established model, the RX accounts for more than half of the brand’s hybrid sales total, with 127,203 units. Now in its fourth generation, the RX has the added appeal of a seven-seat version, the RX L.

Lexus was an industry pioneer in originating the concept of a luxury SUV with the launch of the original RX model in 1998. Since that time, the carmaker has introduced many exciting new models and constantly improved the performance of its hybrid-electric technology. With growing customer demand for EVs that offer superior efficiency, growth in annual sales volumes continues to grow.

The mid-size NX, launched in 2014, has gained 101,137 hybrid sales, while the most recent addition to the line-up, the UX compact crossover, has enjoyed a strong start since its arrival in 2019 with 22,171 sales and the status of the brand’s current best-selling model.
