Face-Lifted Audi A3 spotted Winter Testing

The new Audi A3 is shaping up, and our trusty Teamspeed spies as always have caught it on the road undergoing final tests in northern Scandinavia. The New A3 will be officially presented later this month. These pictures show a fresh family face for the hatchback, with stepped headlights, a large trapezoidal grille and sharply creased bonnet. Even though the giant “Rally Style” fogs are only for testing we kind of love them on.

The new A3’s face is a look similar to the recently face-lifted A5 and all-new A6. And underneath the body, the production version of the A3 will be the first car to sit on the VW Group’s all-new MQB platform. Significant use of aluminum and lightweight steels means the new model will weigh up to 80 kg less than the outgoing version.

Although these shots show the three-door model only, Audi has confirmed that five-door Sportback, Saloon, Cabriolet and Avant models will also join the line-up.

The manufacturer revealed that the interior of the new A3 will see a step up in quality over the outgoing car, and will take inspiration from the A1 and A6. Expect to see eyeball-style air-vents and oversized switches, with high-quality materials used throughout. Audi’s new MMI system – which incorporates a touch-pad in the top of the rotary selector – will also feature. The engine line-up is set to include turbocharged petrols, ranging from a 105 hp 1.2- to a 2.0-litre unit with 210 hp, plus 1.6- and 2.0-litre diesels. An eco model will deliver CO2 emissions of around 89g/km.
