Danica Patrick Walks Away from Big Crash at Daytona on last qualifying lap

There was no Talladega Nights “Sake N’ Bake” going on here for Danica as she luckily walks away from a big crash at Daytona International speedway yesterday. Danica was participating in the Gatorade Duel races which determine starting spots for this weekend’s Daytona 500 NASCAR race.

Patrick was running 10th in the 150-mile race when she was bumped by Aric Almirola’s No. 43 Ford that sent her spinning on the backstretch. Her No. 10 Stewart Haas Racing Chevy skidded across the track and slammed hard into the wall.

“It happened really quick,” she said. “When it gets down to the end of the race, everybody is on each others doors really close. That’s what happens. Unfortunately, I was part of it.”

Reports are that Patrick emerged from the car and walked to the ambulance on her own. She was checked and released from the infield care center. Her Racing Chevrolet unfortunately didn’t have the same positive outcome, it was totaled. Since she will have to use her backup car she’ll start at the back of the pack for the Daytona 500. She certainly will have her work cut out for her this weekend.
