Champions Aren’t Created Overnight

TeamSpeed friend and photographer-extraordinaire Larry Chen recently got a first-hand look at quarter midget racing, a youth racing program and unofficial feeder into professional motorsports like NASCAR or IndyCar.

It’s kind of like peewee sports, but with small-scale midget cars and a huge field of 270 drivers. Competitor ages ranged from five years old to 16 years old.

Quarter midget racing is a huge family affair, with parents and grandparents putting forth tons of effort to make sure their little driver has a solid chance at pursuing his or her dream.
