Callum says no SUV in the cards for Jaguar, Crossover Model a possibility

Forget about a Jaguar SUV – Design director Ian Callum has knocked that one on the head. However a crossover could be an entirely different story.

“I can categorically say that an SUV as such is out of the question. We have a sister company [Land Rover] that produces the best SUVs in the world,” Callum said in an interview with Australian journalist Jez Spinks.

“An SUV is too utilitarian-like for Jaguar,” Callum added, “but maybe there are some grey areas in between we could investigate.”

Speculation ran rife a couple of years ago when Adrian Hallmark, the Brand Director for the British luxury-car maker, mentioned that Jaguar needed to “stop being a saloon-based company.” Of course, the XF Sportbrake confirmed that statement.

Callum, though, refuses to be drawn on whether he has already designed a crossover, meaning an Audi Allroad competitor could be quite likely.
