Six Formula 1 world championships. Nine 12 Hours of Sebring OA wins. Eight 24 Hours of Le Mans OA victories. Eight Targa Florio OA triumphs. And, of course, a W at the Mille Miglia OA. Thanks to 10 fantastic drivers, including five-time F1 champ Juan Manuel Fangio, the 1956 Ferrari 290 MM by Scaglietti has a legendary winning history. And now it’s going up for auction.

The car, which has original matching numbers on the chassis, gearbox, engine, and body, is going up for bidding this December 10 at the Driven by Distruption event in New York. Featuring a brand new 3.5L V12, only four of these cars were built.

“It’s hard to know where to start when describing just how important this 290 MM is,” RM Sotheby’s car specialist Peter Wallman said. “Driven by the greatest drivers of the 1950s and built for possibly THE greatest driver in history, this is a car with which Enzo Ferrari was personally involved and is a fundamental part of Ferrari folklore.”

Oh, and did we also mention that it won the 1957 Buenos Aires 1000 by beating Stirling Moss and his Maserati? Time to check out how much you could fetch for your soul on the black market. This one isn’t going to be cheap.
