Bentley Debuts Continental GT Convertible Number 1 Edition
Very limited edition celebrates Bentley’s 100 year anniversary by re-imagining the Number 1 Bentley Blower of 1929.
When it comes to celebrating a milestone, Bentley knows how to do it with style. The Continental GT Convertible Number 1 Edition by Mulliner is a limited edition that tips its cap to the legendary No. 1 Bentley Blower of 1929. This a modern interpretation appropriately takes cues from the iconic racing car, but then adds modern touches and styling. The convertible features 18 carat gold plated fender badging, and includes a remarkable piece of history within, cast from a piston from the original No.1, set within the innovative Bentley Rotating Display.
the Number 1 Edition is limited to only 100 bespoke vehicles. And they are incredible.
The vehicle was handcrafted in England during Bentley’s centenary year, and boasts design elements that celebrate some of the pioneering individuals from the marque’s first 100 years.
Available in either Dragon Red II or Beluga, and with a Claret or Beluga folding hood, the Limited Edition is equipped with a Centenary Pack, Bentley Black Line Specification, and Carbon Body Kit, rounded off by the painted Number 1 front grille.
Under the hood is an enhanced version of Bentley’s renowned 6.0-liter, twin-turbocharged W12 TSI engine, mated to a dual-clutch eight-speed transmission for faster, more efficient gear changes. The state-of-the-art drivetrain offers a powerful and exhilarating drive, as thrilling as that produced by the original No. 1 when it first took to the racetrack all those years ago.
The 22-inch MDS wheels are a sharp touch, and come in either Cricket Ball or Gloss Black finish. We love the modern luxe car with classic motorsport style.
The interior is truly Bentley brilliance. It includes Centenary badges to the rear and on the wheel centers, Centenary LED welcome lamps, Centenary badging on the gear lever and steering wheel, and a Centenary badge on the key-fob. A British Jaeger clock featuring a Number 1 face complements the uniquely crafted dashboard, which incorporates Engine Spin on the center console. Often referred to as ‘Turned Aluminium’, Engine Spin was a popular racing car and aviation finish in the 1920s and ‘30s as it limited light reflection.
Other eye-catching details include the debossed B insignia on the headrests and door inserts, a Grand Black wood veneer enhanced by 18 carat gold plated organ stops and an Alcantara steering wheel and gear lever. Passengers are welcomed by a Number 1 treadplate insert as they step into a luxurious cabin.
This is how you put out a 100-year car that celebrates the past and incorporates the very appealing future.
