Become a DJ, Get Famous, Drive a McLaren 720S
EDM producer and DJ Marshmello has made it big…and he has a McLaren 720S supercar to prove it.
Not to be confused with that sweet snack that we roast over a campfire, music producer and DJ Marshmello has serious skills when it comes to electronic music and the art of DJ-ing.  That has made him a worldwide sensation. Though his identity is no longer a secret, Marshmello always wears a custom helmet with a stylized happy face emblazoned on it. It’s an approach pioneered by other successful DJs, including Deadmau5 and the Daft Punk duo. Marshmello, who was born Christopher Comstock, also appears to have excellent taste in cars. His Instagram page (where he has almost thirty million followers) shows the helmeted DJ striking a pose in a stunning black McLaren 720S. It’s not surprising he can afford such a special machine. In 2017 Forbes magazine said he was the eight-highest paid DJ in the world, earning a whopping $21 million in the twelve months prior to June 2017.Â
In case you’ve forgotten about the McLaren 720S (unlikely, I know) here’s a brief rundown of its impressive specs and performance. The 720S is basically a Formula 1 car with a body and street legal safety equipment. Under the exotic and beautiful bodywork is a 710 horsepower twin-turbo V8. The 720S gets to 60 mph in under three seconds and has a top speed of 212 mph.The 720S is available as a coupe or a convertible. As of 2020 the base coupe retailed for $301,500 with the Performance version going for a bit more at $313,630. Marshmello appears to prefer the coupe. Good choice.
Marshemello’s IG page pictures him with a couple of other supercars as well. In one he’s sitting behind the wheel of a Lamborghini. In another post he’s pictured wearing his trademark happy face helmet in front of multi-million dollar Ferrari LaFerrari. No word if he owns either the Lambo or the Ferrari. But would it really be that surprising if he did?
