BAC Mono Marine Edition Is the Cure for Luxury Separation Anxiety

“Should I go drive my street-legal race car or go for a quick cruise on my yacht? Or maybe I should drive my supercar to my yacht, boat across the pond, and take the car out for a quick track day? Yeah, that sounds good. I need to shave a few seconds off my lap times.” These are the probable thoughts of a future owner of the special edition BAC Mono Marine.

The open-air BAC Mono is already an exclusive and extremely unique sports car. It has one of the best power-to-weight ratios on the planet with a new 305-horsepower four-cylinder in a 1,279-pound package. Paired with a Hewland F3 6-speed gearbox, the Cosworth engine zips the car from zero to 60 in 2.8 seconds. Now, BAC has made it even more exotic with the “Marine Edition.”

For those thinking this might be an amphibious conversion that allows the Mono to ocean dive, you might be a little disappointed. The idea for the special edition comes from BAC co-founder Ian Briggs’ past experience with designing luxury yachts.

“I have always wanted to combine my love of marine and automotive design,” he said. “The ‘Marine Edition’ Mono represents the ultimate drive-and-arrive experience with great purity of purpose and style.”

The upgrade isn’t just for looks either, though it does have custom yacht styling. BAC partnered up with Camper & Nicholsons to incorporate “anti-corrosive ultra-high specification components” and a lift system that’ll allow the car to be easily moved from boat to dock and vice versa. It also has an “Environmental Control Container System,” which sounds like something that will be used to hold lobster and gold-flake caviar, but in reality, it’s the compartment for the car on the yacht.

These will be built to order for $774,800. Want one?
