All-New Noble M500 Revealed at Goodwood Festival of Speed
A new player has arrived. Noble shows off new M500 as entry-level model to lineup.Â
Every year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, auto manufacturers seize the opportunity to debut upcoming models to give the public a sneak peak of what’s to come. At this year’s event happening this weekend, British car maker Noble Automotive have brought out the all-new M500 as reported by Autocar. The new M500 will be the company’s entry-level model below the M600 and will also be more road-friendly compared to its more track focused big brother.
Unlike the M600 that was powered by the Volvo XC90 derived twin-turbocharged V8, Noble claims that the M500 will using a twin-turbocharged V6 from Ford, just like the ones you’ll find in the F-150 and GT. Horsepower is said to land somewhere around the 550bhp range, about 100 less than what the M600 makes. A DSG dual-clutch gearbox with flappy paddles will put the power down to the rear wheels.
Sadly, the model on display at Goodwood is just a prototype with no engine or interior. Noble company director Peter Boutwood was in charge of the exterior design. Looking at the photos, it’s clear that Boutwood decided to go with a much more sleeker approach with the body lines over the M600’s more boxy style. The M500’s body will be made of fiberglass as opposed carbon fiber like the M600. Despite the different use of materials, the M500 is expected to weight close to the M600’s 1250kg, possibly a little more to improve ride comfort.
Still in the early stages of development, production of the M500 probably won’t start production until 2019. No official pricing has been reported, but it will definitely be less expensive than the M600’s almost $400,000 price tag. What do you think about Noble’s new entry level supercar?
