2021 Jaguar F-Type Evolves with Sleek and Aggressive Refresh
New F-Type boasts impressive curves, a high-tech infotainment system, and a supercharged V8.
Jaguar has just unveiled the new 2021 F-Type sports car, and it looks good. Available in a two-seat coupé and convertible, Jaguar has loaded the sports car with extra amenities. For the 2021 F-Type, Jaguar has added more muscle and a lot of precision and visual allure.
“The new F-TYPE is the definitive Jaguar sports car and continues to set the benchmark for design purity, driver engagement and reward, and a truly visceral driving experience – it makes every journey extraordinary,” says Alan Volkaerts, Vehicle Line Director, Jaguar F-Type.
One of the biggest changes is the addition of powertrains. Options for the 2021 F-Type include the 295 hp turbocharged four-cylinder, 374 hp supercharged V6, and a 443 hp and Type R 586 hp V8s.
All feature active exhaust systems, which are switchable either as an option or as standard. The supercharged V8 has a new Quiet Start function, the electrically-actuated bypass valves in the rear silencer remain closed until they automatically open up under load. If desired, Quiet Start can be over-ridden by selecting Dynamic Mode or by pressing the switchable exhaust button before starting the engine.
The supercharged V8 F-Type is offered with a choice of all-wheel drive and–for purists–rear-wheel drive. Both versions can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds, and hits top speed of 177mph.
“Its timeless looks are more assertive than ever,” says Volkaerts. “Technologies such as the high-definition virtual instrument cluster deepen the driver-focused feel of the interior, while the range of powertrains offers a breadth of choice unrivaled in the segment. Enthusiasts will appreciate the new F-Type R’s supercharged V8, enhanced chassis, and intelligent all-wheel drive system, which deliver truly outstanding performance in all conditions while retaining its inherent tractability and usability.”
Adding to increased power and precision, the car is matched to a comprehensively uprated chassis with new, wider, 20-inch, 10-spoke wheels in Gloss Black with contrast Diamond-Turned finish, new adaptive dampers, springs, anti-roll bars and stiffer rear knuckles and ball joints, delivering even greater agility and responsiveness.
Inside, the interior is all Jaguar. High-end and luxurious fabrics, innovative technology; it looks as stunning as it feels. Options include the First Edition with exterior design pack, black contrast roof, and 12-way Windsor leather performance seats with monogram stitch.
New to the F-Type is a 12.3-inch HD virtual instrument cluster, smartphone pack with Apple CarPlay as standard, and Meridian audio. The smartphone pack also includes Android Auto and Baidu CarLife, depending on market applicability, as standard.
Jaguar has not yet released information on pricing, so stay tuned.
