“CSX5277” — that right there folks is one of the “component cars” sold by Shelby, and it is by far the rarest of the run of the Series 1 cars.

The story of these engine-less cars comes from Shelby American being sold to another company, which then went bankrupt. And the newly formed Shelby Automobiles picked up the remaining pieces. The car is essentially made of scraps from the pre-1999 run of 249 complete cars, but enough was left over that they could essentially build a few more as kit cars. They only built 29 more, but for those, the car’s form of motivation was up to you to decide.

Though the powertrain of this one is not discussed here in the ad, it is presumed to be powered by something V8, and has covered a mere four thousand or so miles. With Caroll’s passing, it can only be assumed that the value of these will increase, leaving us to wonder if it could pose as an investment opportunity. It almost makes you wonder if the future buyer will see it that way and hide it away, put it in a collection, or even drive it as it is truly meant to be driven.
