Educate me on Lake Tahoe
The lady and I are going there for a wedding in August. I'm trying to be on the ball with getting everything taken care of now. I'm not sure where the wedding is specifically yet but does anyone have any good advice about Tahoe?

I don't have any specific advice, especially for an August visit, as nearly all of my trips have been in the winter. I've probably been 15+ times and I absolutely love the place. I'm sure you'll have a great time. It's gorgeous.

I'm really late to the post here, don't check this forum often. I live in Tahoe.
The ridge is decent by tahoe standards (hotels tend to be somewhat dated compared to Vegas and such) but somewhat remote. You're up on top of the hill and have to drive up and down a mountain road every time you want to do something in town. You also probably have an awesome view up there.
What kind of things do you want to do? If you want beaches, august should be great! Closest one to you is Nevada beach, thats the one I post pictures of in the POV thread. Drive down the hill, hang a right at the bottom. 2nd stoplight go left. Either park outside the gate or pay the parking fee. If you want to drive a little further, the best beach in tahoe is sand harbor, just google it.
If you want to gamble Harvey's or Harrahs is you best bet. Get a player's card if you do.
Food, if you want something decent Tahoe Grille, Fresh Ketch, Evan's, Chart House or the Sage Room steakhouse. If you want pizza/burgers The Brewery, Lake Tahoe pizza company, Izzy's burger spa.
Clubs, Vex at Harrahs or Blu at the Mont Bleu resort.
Outdoor stuff. Too much to list, its mecca for this stuff. If you want to do hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, rock climbing or anything else PM me and I'll give you options.

Thanks for the post. I picked the Ridge based on going into the whole things pretty blind. Our friends are staying at the Mont Bleu but the reviews I read were lackluster and didn't think it would be money well spent. We will have a rental car so I'm not overly concerned about the driving and the Ridge has a great shuttle program from what i've been told. Are their any other hotels you would recommend?
We get in Friday around Lunch time and leave on Sunday morning. With the wedding at 7p.m. on Saturday I think we are going to be a bit restricted on the activity list. I'm tempted to see if I can play golf or go kayaking on Saturday though while the girls do the spa stuff.
I'll keep you posted.
Thanks again for your input.

I've only ever spent one night at a hotel there. It was Harveys and not that nice. There are lots of vacation rentals and I think that is the way to go if you've got a group. You can go from cheap to luxury depending on budget.
If you golf, edgewood. You'll be able to hit a ball FAR because of the altitude and just check the pic below.
You can rent kayaks at nevada beach.
