When the seasoned crew over at M&D Exclusive Cardesign have a blank canvas arrive at their shop to tweak, they never fail to deliver. . Not long after a stock Mercedes Benz SL500 showed up, an exclusive black edition widebody emerged from their garage door, a far cry from the factory automible that originally appeared at their front door. To construct a widebody is no walk in the park, every component must go hand in hand or it will not look right. Custom made Rennen Forged Wheels were bolted in place of the stock wheels, model 55 X-Concave with steplip to be exact. The SL received 20x10 wheels in the front and 21x13 out back. This model wheel is tied together by a textured matte black face, red coated register, gloss black steplip and onyx show bolts. For these forged wheels, the shop chose Continental CONTISportContact tires, sizes 255/35/20 for the front & 325/25/20 rollers out back, which made sense because they are German, along with the ride. The SL500 was sprayed an astonishing diamond white pearl paint, along with a black roof and black accents throughout. Truly wanting to outdo even themselves, the crew at M&D Exclusive Cardesign went as far as to fabricate a custom made stainless exhaust complete with o.e.m. AMG 65 exhaust tips and a modified diffuser. For the SL's internal features, Lamborghini leather was introduced in red and black diamond stitching on the roof, seats and door trim. The factory shift knob was replaced with o.e.m. AMG 63 shift knob while the start-stop button was moved from the previous shift knob and added to the dashboard.


These particular Rennen Forged wheels complement the SL Black Edition Widebody perfectly. The shades of color the crew chose match the car entirely and the staggered sizes give the car a mean stance. All of our forged wheels at Rennen are made from 6061-T6 forged aluminum, a metal known for being very durable yet lightweight. This is where form meets function, on the road these wheels save weight over stock wheels thus spinning faster, which in turn makes the vehicle goes faster as a result of less unsprung weight. Couple that with a forging process which gets rid of little imperfections on the metals surface, and you have a rim that performs on the race course and on the city streets.
