Three Singaporean Buyers Confirmed For $3.6m Pagani Supercar

Three units of the Pagani Huayra will be zooming into garages somewhere in Singapore later this year and the next.

The Italian supercar, which starts from $3.6 million for the standard variant, was viewed by several well-heeled Singaporeans last weekend in private previews at EuroAutomobile's Teban Gardens Crescent showroom.

'Over the weekend, there were six or seven individuals who expressed strong interest in the Huayra and I am happy to say three of them have placed orders,' said EuroAutomobile managing director Melvin Goh.

Mr Goh declined to say more about the buyers, except that all three are men 'in their early 50s, with a passion for cars'.

'They already own many cars, including Lamborghini,' said Mr Goh, who also holds the franchises for Lamborghini, Lotus, and Alfa Romeo in Singapore.

EuroAutomobile officially took on the Pagani franchise last week. Previously, Auto Kultur in Changi was the Pagani dealer. The company, which introduced the Italian marque here in late 2003, had sold two Zonda units said to have cost between $2 million and $3 million each.

The Huayra is Pagani Automobili SpA's second model after the Zonda and although they may look similar, the Huayra has a newly designed carbon-titanium chassis and show-stopping gull-wing doors. It has a longer wheelbase for a more spacious cabin, and a mid-mounted Mercedes-Benz AMG 6.0-litre V12 turbocharged engine producing 700 hp and 1,00 Nm of torque.

The two-seater supercar - which takes its name from the Andean god of wind, Huayra Tata - was introduced to the Singapore market last weekend by its creator, Horacio Pagani.

According to Mr Pagani, the very first Huayra in the world will be delivered next month. Both left- and right-hand-drive versions will come onto the market at the same time, with the first RHD car destined for Hong Kong.

For Mr Goh's three customers, the first will get his Huayra in October, while the other two will receive them next year.

'The addition of the Pagani Huayra has expanded our dealership in the supercar business,' said Mr Goh. 'We hope to continue to bring new and uncommon cars to the Singapore market to excite car enthusiasts here. This would definitely bring in new friends. At EuroSports Auto, you come in a customer and walk out a friend.'

Below is a video posted by our member Marchettino who got to spend some time up close with the new supercar last year.

Good to hear that the Huayra's sales are doing good, Zonda owners are given priority in the list.

Import tariff is a female dog.

There is no escaping the tariff in Asia no matter where you go. China tax the crap out of you, so does Taiwan, HK, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, New Zeland, Australia, Thailand, Phillipines, and Indonesia. They all have absurd import tariff on cars.

People about died in Taiwan when I told them my lease payment for the M3 sedan is 800 bucks a month. For that, you can barely get a Camry if you take out a 60 months note. And Taiwan's tariff is actually on the low side compared to the rest of Asia.
