My favorite. So buttery. So smooth.

A couple pics of my latest arrival -- the Bolivar 681 Regional Edition Bulgaria 2011. It took quite a bit of work to obtain these from Bulgaria but they finally arrived today.

So what's the deal with those cigars? I don't know anything so please enlighten me. The tobacco is from Havana and it says made in Cuba, so what does Bulgaria have to do with it?

^ Each year since 2005 the Cubans make a series of cigars that are exclusive to (sold only in) certain countries or regions. They only make these "Regional Edition" cigars under the "multi-local" and "local" brands to promote these brands:

Bolívar
Fonseca
Punch
Quintero
Vegas Robaina
Diplomáticos
El Rey del Mundo
Juan López
La Flor de Cano
La Gloria Cubana
Por Larrañaga
Quai d'Orsay
Rafael González
Ramón Allones
Saint Luis Rey
Sancho Panza

Although, they have never made a regional edition Diplomatico and I believe that brand is being phased out soon. They also have never made a Quintero regional edition, probably because that is the Cuban's crappiest brand and the distributors would never sell them.

The countries/regions where they have sold these cigars to date are shown here: http://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/5-r...Edition_Series

The regional edition cigars are always of a different size (vitola) than the regular production cigars within these brands.

Sometimes these regional edition cigars can be very difficult to obtain because some of the countries for which they are made prohibit by law the export of tobacco products. So these are highly sought after by collectors.

This thread has so gone dead since moving it over here. I propose moving it back to OT. Can I get a second?

I totally agree UBC. I haven't smoked any recently because it's so damned cold out but the thread is also out in the cold.
