Raw/Selvedge Denim: Let's see 'em
I know theres a pants thread, but to narrow it down a little more, let's see the denim enthusiast's jeans.
Whats the longest anyone has gone without washing so they can get that raw fade?
I have three pairs of custom denim that were handmade by Ben Viapiana (viapiana.ca) in Bangkok.
The denim here is leftover Paul Smith Selvedge. The edges are two different color combos, so we went with some selvedge on the coin pocket and the two colors on the back pockets. This denim is so stiff it *may* have been able to stand up on it;s own when I first got it. He also tried out a star stitch pattern to sew his patch on.
Second pair is some "red tab" denim from Levi's, I just went with a peek-a-boo coin pocket and black stitching. Kept this one super simple. Really nice and light for raw denim, super easy to wear--but it doesnt fade nearly as fast as others.
Lastly, some Japanese Monk Denim:

All I have is a pair of 501's with my iPhone and Chapstick faded into the front pockets. I really know nothing about raw denim but I do love these jeans, they were recommended to me by a true jean freak and at $50 they are excellent quality.
