| Thinking about a X50 996TT Anything in particular to look out for? Any years of the X50 to avoid? From what I can tell the X50 was first offered in 2002 yes? I like the idea of the added HP, bigger Turbo's from the factory. Thanks guys and if anyone knows a good one for sale (budget is 55k) please let me know!  |

| Just make sure it doesn't have the 2nd gear pop-out issue and has had proper service documentation, otherwise a great car.

| One was just posted for sale moments ago right here. No offense but the haunches of the 996 just don't work for me. Unless you utilize spacers the care really looks off imo. I guess it's a love/hate body style so to each thur own.

| As DJ mentioned, the 2nd gear pop-out issue is the only major thing to look at specifically, aside from your usual PPI. I personally know of a few that quite recently traded hands, one of them going for $48k w/ only 12k miles on the clock! Good deals are definitely out there. I'd personally wait until the 991 start becoming more plentiful, and try and pick up a nice X50 trade. Good luck!

| at this time, expect to do the following upgrades for peace of mind: - possibly wheel bearings - plastic coolant containers - drop engine & put hose clamps on all coolant hoses (before you're stranded on the side of the road thanks to a really crappy cheap system) - get the evo clutch assist delete so the clutch feels like a real car - short shifter is worth its money too at this point - get a real boost gauge so you can spot boost problems early on - diverter valves probably need replacement - and i'm sure i'm missing stuff - chuck
