Were Welders the watches from the 6-speed group buy which went horribly wrong?

 

I'm single, so I'm at home drinking beer, digesting ribeye's (yes, plural) and taking pictures of watches.

Yes. From my understanding, everyone was made whole in the end though. Bill (Vicious from 6speedonline) was actually a decent guy and I know Markus (TechartDreamer) who isn't around much anymore is friends with him. Bill just got in way over his head on handling the groupbuy. That, coupled with the crippling dollar at the time, caused some sort of delta in funds between the time he collected the money and when the order was placed.

My watch came in on the first shipment and I got it immediately, but I know some guys were left hanging for quite a while. I think the final refunds were issued something like a year after the initial money was collected.

It was a cool watch, I bought it because I was thinking about a Bell & Ross and wanted to see what a square case felt like. I enjoyed the Welder, but never ended up getting the B&R, which was a good choice in hindsight.
