I'm tempted to buy an AP in the coming year or two max and regularly check various websites and retailers, but having read your warning I think an AP could result in a serious problem for me and my accountant

but I'm sure you'll agree the hardest part in the AP game is following your #1 rule:

"a. you should never buy one"

not that i can afford it but i have to ask: is that a good deal?

The GP is one of my favorite AP pieces, it wears very well on your wrist, it's very light. One problem with this piece is that the resell value does not hold very well because they produced too many of it...1750 I think? That's a lot for limited edition. I've seen as low as $39,000 for BNIB in the market, I'd not go higher than than $40,000 forr a brand new one.

so true, but imho it is money well spent!
i have been recently constantly reminded that a watch is a much better 'thing' than a car because, A, it is always on your wrist, B, it does not cost much to maintain, and C, most of the time no one has any idea what it is so the pleasure is 100% personal.
i am not a fan of the analogy, but i do admit it does make financial sense at least

thanks for the price tips!
yes, for the carbon/carbon 1750 were made
i am not a big fan of light watches, but was pleasantly welcoming its weight on the wrist and was not bothered at all!
perhaps i am too excited that i finally tried one on, but i would gladly get rid of the panda + rolex ym + cash to reach $36.5k worth for one right now

For today I think its a little over... but not too far off the mark. I am sure a AD would be able to do $32ish but not many CF are at the dealers, if you like the rose gold I think I can find one

Today, I am all Porsched up
