Australia

Hi guys

Leaving for Australia via Hong Kong (3 nights) in August. Will be in Oz for three months. I'll be working in Melbourne for 2 months, and then the last month my girlfriend and myself plan on holidaying. So far we have decided on going to Sydney, Gold Coast, Coffs Harbour and Hamilton Island. Any other must do's or must see's whilst we there?

Thanks for the help

T

Main spots i can think of in Sydney is the city itself (Sydney point tower, opera house, harbour bridge and few other things you might like) kings cross is where the night life is (all clubbing) darling harbour is very nice drop by the star (casino) and the city outside the City is Parramatta where I'm from. And on the way up to Queensland you have Coffs Harbour is where your going already then Brisbane and Gold Coast ( if your into theme parks you will enjoy it like wet n wild, dreamworld, sea world and movie world) You and your gf will definitely like up north - Great Barrier Reef. That's All I can think of for now lol

Cairns for the GBR and rainforest, but if you go to Hamo you should be fine for reef...make sure to hit up Whitehaven Beach while you're in the Whitsundays, it's spectacular.

I also tend to prefer the Sunshine Coast over the Gold Coast...might be worth considering, especially if you guys will have seen Melb/Sydney/Brisbane already.

have fun :)

Hey T, lots to do in Sydney - of course depending on budget but being in the food business I have lots of friends and contacts at restaurants etc and night clubs.

Where are you staying in Sydney?

One thing absolutely must do is get the ferry from circular quay to Manly Beach. Avoid the restaurants at the wharf when you dock and walk through the pedestrian mall to the beachfront, lots of cool bars, coffee shops, restaurants - being from SA you MUST go eat at Ribs n Rumps, try get there early for lunch / dinner and ask for a balcony table.

Of course Bondi Beach is an absolute must too, avoid the tourist traps and restaurants on the beachfront ie: Campbell Parade and venture up Hall street and Glenayr avenue, where all the locals go, lots of cool bars and food etc. If youre nearby and up early enough head to Gusto cafe on Hall street for an early morning coffee / breakfast at about 6.30am, great view of the beach and sunrise.

Circular quay / the rocks area is another must, harbour bridge and opera house are both in the area. You could easily spend a day walking around and discovering this area.

Darling harbour / star casino - a bit of a tourist trap but worth a look around, basically in the CBD which is awesome to walk around. I would dedicate a day to this too. While here, take your girlfriend for high tea to the Westin Hotel at Martin Place - she will love you for it!!

Kings Cross / Potts Point area - nightlife capital of Australia, also the red light district. Friday and Saturday nights here are Nuts!!!!!! Im currently in the process of opening a new club called "le studio", 21 Kellet street just off the main street, happy to look after you when youre here. Also, one of my business partners is the owner of a club steeped in history and VERY well known called "the tunnel", happy to look after you here too. Potts Point is great during the day for coffee / people watching etc: frequented by Nicole Kidman and many other celebrities when in town, very New York meets Paris. Head to Room 10 on Llankelly place for coffee or Challis avenue just down the road for more coffee / food options. Great fashion boutiques to keep your girlfriend happy. For dinner head to gazebo wine garden at near the park and police station, let me know when you want to go there and Ill arrange a booking for you - best to go on a Friday / Saturday night or Lunch on a Sunday.

As I think of more Ill post here for you but PM me when you know your dates etc.

Cheers, Jase

Almost forgot Double Bay - very affluent area just East of the city and easy to get to. If you like your cars and I assume you do head to Indigo Cafe on Transvaal avenue (yes, Transvaal avenue)for a coffee / breakfast / car watching any Saturday or Sunday morning from about 10am onwards, its like a free car show.
