Where's a good place to take my wife for a weekend?

Im wanting to get away for a weekend (All of a Friday Saturday and Sunday), probably sometime in June. I want to go somewhere that is full of nature. Lots of forest, hiking, maybe some moutains and lakes.

The most important thing is I want to be outside with great scenery, fresh air, and really nothing to do. We've travelled the world plenty, but havent really been anywhere in the US besides Texas, Florida and Virginia, so I have no idea where's good.

All suggestions are welcome and Im not afraid to fly or drive anywhere. Driving would be cool so we can take our dogs along with us, but not necessary.

Thanks for the suggestions!!

Where do you live/what is your starting point?

EDIT: Saw you posted June time frame. What about Cape May, NJ? You can drive and take the car ferry over from Lewes, DE (really fun!) and stay at the Congress Hall Hotel (really nice but check their policy on pets first) - amazing beaches here that arent crowded - lots of bird sancuarys - state parks - inlets to fish - let the dogs run/etc.

Then at night the dining options are great in this town :)

Just a thought (i went there and did this exact trip with my GF last year and we loved it)

This place is supposedly amazing. I've not been, but a few of my clients have. I hope to go someday.

That was one of the first places that came to mind for me as well.

There will be plenty of time for that. Believe me. She loves the wilderness, I do not. So the fact that Ill be taking her somewhere like this, will grant me plenty of nooky.

Looks awesome Thanks

Cape May is great. I was going to say Northern CA or somewhere in the PNW. we did that run in several days last year and it was great.
