To be showcased at any car enthusiast event, sanctioned or unsanctioned, is accolade enough for most automotive manufacturers…but when it’s a coveted BMW being showcased at a BMW Car Club of America event, there’s truly something special in store. This scenario became a vivid, eye-opening reality on February 25 at New York’s BMW of Manhattan, when a stunning 1988 E30 M3 – one of the most admired of all Bimmers – on equally sexy Rennen Motorsport MV6 wheels was put on display for all to see at an exclusive BMW Car Club of America extravaganza. To say the M3 was in “good company” is something of an understatement: Sitting next to this extraordinary automobile was a ’93 850Ci, M6 Competition Edition – one of a mere 100 – and a Fire Orange wrapped i8.

The solitary goal here for Rennen engineers was to make this classic BMW stand out...an ambitious task indeed, as this would be no easy feat given the already sumptuous and enviable silhouette of the E3. But Rennen Wheels, in finding the perfect fusion of a classic car design and modern true directional wheel approach which included a reverse face-mount steplip, turned the BMW enthusiast crowd on its ear by dropping a set of its new MV motorsports-oriented rims on the vehicle. These custom-made Rennen MV6 three-piece 6061-T6 forged wheels appear perfectly mated to the E30 M3, boasting a brushed face and a high-polish steplip that makes them pop from nearly every angle. What’s more, the lightweight wheels proved to be an excellent fit for the most victorious road race car throughout what was known as the “Supertouring era.”
From an aesthetic and performance perspective, the M30 M3 on display at the BMW Car Club of America event drew envious crowds like red-blooded American males to the grand opening of a new gentleman’s club, due in no small part to its dazzling Heannarot exterior paint. Considered one of the rarest and most sought-after colors for the E30, Heannarot is an enticing mix of red and orange, rendering the car orange when the sun hits it and red when it’s parked in the shade. But this BMW isn’t all about looks – starting up the engine brings the roaring s52 motor, which was recently swapped out of an E36 and which brought 30 extra horsepower to the E30 M3, to rumbling life, while a new intake, headers, tuneup and custom Borla exhaust define an encompassing overhaul.

To assist with aerodynamics and handling, custom-valved Koni/Eibach coilovers provide the suspension of the classic BMW show car while also injecting an unmistakably aggressive stance.

Rennen Forged utilizes materials that have been used in aerospace manufacturing technology, allowing the company’s wheel products to boast extremely durable characteristics while ultimately remaining light in weight – an aspect of automotive wheel design highly coveted by extreme enthusiasts.
