The next step in sniper operations?

Just....wow

The 14.9mm SOP Extra Long Range Rifle | The Loadout Room

Cool, but seems impossibly impractical. The .50 rifles we're using today are already a huge strain due to their weight and size.
Advancements can significantly cut back on that, but it also begs the question: will humans be accurate enough to fire past the 1 - 1.5 mile range we have today?
Is it even practical to try to get more than that from a rifle that requires line of sight?

want....

It's about as practical as a guy jumping out of a plane in a wing suit. Advances are made so that the military fighting man can be that much more effective, because at the end of the day it isn't the fighter pilot or Drone driver that matters; it's the man on the ground getting his hands dirty.

This is home defense for someone with a huge property. Trip the motion sensors at your own peril!!

If by property you mean frigging state! Holy crap. And I really never thought anything over .338 lapua or .416 barrett was necessary. Though that would be really interesting with some uranium depleted rounds...thats definitely artillery!!!! Though honestly, if that thing isnt actuated by some sort of hydraulic bipods and butt rest, I dont see an operator being able to hold that thing on a target that moving for very long.

So. When one adjusts the scope on one of these. Must we take into account the curvature of the earth?
