Coolest AK I've ever seen.

This is perhaps the coolest AK that I've ever seen.

Looks like a fun project!

That is really nice Choke. What would something like that run?

I dropped the guy a line, and he said that he spent $850, start to finish.

He did use a truly cheap base gun to start with, but that is no matter. Damn well done. So much so, that I'm going to take a crack at it.

It was explained to me that my Sig 556 is actually more of an AK than an AR because of the completely different piston design.

The only things I can see different physically when laid next to a classic AR-15 is the lack of forward assist and buffer tube.

Splitting hairs... Both rifles have become so iconoclastic that everything else is measured against them.

A lot of guys will attribute the piston system to the AK because all AK variants are piston driven. Lesser known is that when the US military was looking for a new assault rifle, there were many "AR" (to use a general term) variants that had piston set ups. As it was, the procurement process being what it is, Colt and its gas impingement system won the military contract.

That's damn cheap. I wonder what kind of deal he got on the accessories.

I got a pretty inexpensive fiber stock AK for about $560, but even still I'd think the rails , stock, and red dot would be over $300.

Damn, I need to know where that guy goes shopping.
