Coolest AK I've ever seen. This is perhaps the coolest AK that I've ever seen. Looks like a fun project! YouTube - Modernized, Tactical AKM W/ Samson K-Rail & Ace Folding Stock |
That is really nice Choke. What would something like that run? |
I dropped the guy a line, and he said that he spent $850, start to finish. He did use a truly cheap base gun to start with, but that is no matter. Damn well done. So much so, that I'm going to take a crack at it. |
That is nice looking. |
Very nice! |
It was explained to me that my Sig 556 is actually more of an AK than an AR because of the completely different piston design. The only things I can see different physically when laid next to a classic AR-15 is the lack of forward assist and buffer tube. |
Splitting hairs... Both rifles have become so iconoclastic that everything else is measured against them. A lot of guys will attribute the piston system to the AK because all AK variants are piston driven. Lesser known is that when the US military was looking for a new assault rifle, there were many "AR" (to use a general term) variants that had piston set ups. As it was, the procurement process being what it is, Colt and its gas impingement system won the military contract. |

Damn, I need to know where that guy goes shopping. |
