Bugatti Veyron Targa set to be Unveiled at Pebble Beach

The Bugatti Veyron Targa has been hitting the rumour mill for quite some time and it now looks like we are about to see the model in full production form after insideline sources confirmed it will be unveiled at the 2008 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in mid-August.

It was impossible to produce a hard-top convertible version of the Veyron because there is no-where to store the roof when you want the top down – that 987hp 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine is just too damn big! Therefore the only alternative was to go for the removable hardtop option which will get a clip-on expandable fabric cover.

The Veyron targa will have a reinforced chassis and its top speed will be limited to a 217mph which will still put it as the fastest open-air sportscar on the planet.

The current Veyron currently exchanges hands for upwards of $2 million, but it is expected an additional premium of $250,000 will be added to the Targa version. There are unlikely to be any more than 75 or 80 units produced as the Veyron closes in on the end of its lifecycle.

Looks pretty cool don't think the $250k increase is within reason though.

Already have a client that is getting one of the first cars. Excited to see it!

I think it's less than expected. That's 12.5% man. Think about a 50k car with a targa version. It would definitely be more than 56,250.

is this a old pic ? i thought ive seen this pic before........

I guess it's kind of cool, but the idea sort of contradicts all of the R&D and meaning of the car. They spent SOO much time perfecting the aerodynamics and downforce for it to maintain the speeds it's capable of, and here they go and rip off the roof.

Well when stated that way it makes sense. Targa option has always been spendy. I was just a little shocked by the price altogether.

People with the wallets for the Veyron don't sweat 250K.
