Ralph Lauren's car collection to be shown at Paris

17 cars of the amazing Ralph Lauren's collection are going to be shown at the museum of the decorative art in Paris from the 28 of april and during 4 month. The exposition will be organize by Jean-Michel Wilmotte (a famous french architect). The entry only cost 9 euros!

Here's the list of the cars:
  • Blower Bentley (1929)
  • Mercedes-Benz "Count Trossi" SSK (1930)
  • Alfa Romeo Monza 8c 2300 (1931)
  • Bugatti Type 59 Grand Prix (1933)
  • Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic Coupe (1938)
  • Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 Mille Miglia (1938)
  • Jaguar XK120 Alloy Roadster (1950)
  • Ferrari 375 Plus (1954)
  • Jaguar XKD (1955)
  • Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing Coupé (1955)
  • Porsche 550 Spyder (1955)
  • Jaguar XKSS (1957)
  • Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa (1958)
  • Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Scaglietti (1960)
  • Ferrari 250 GTO (1962)
  • Ferrari 250 LM (1964)
  • McLaren F1 LM (1996)
Too bad the exposition is in Paris, but I guess it'll worth a 40 euro train ticket!

FYI - people in France on another forum are claiming that photography is not allowed inside this museum. Maybe they will relax that policy for this display but it remains to be seen what will actually happen once the doors open.

That would be worth the trip. No photography would be a bummer though.

I believe it is a partnership with the Louvre. If that is the case, they have not allowed cameras since its advent haha!!

It would be interesting to have a painter draw up the display.

I'm definitely gonna go. Hope photography is allowed though. Seeing some of these cars might be a one-in-a-lifetime experience..!

The count trossi, 8c and 57sc are all cars I want to see someday. RL has the most phenomenal collection of top-notch restorations.

Maybe BigE can swing by while he's in Europe.

Does anyone know Lauren? Perhaps a TS private meet would be in order wherever he has them stored.

^I wish I could. Unfortunately our itinerary is already set and Paris isn't exactly a "hop, skip and and jump" from the places we will be visiting while there.

Ralph Lauren's collection is IMHO without question the most perfect collection of beautiful, tasteful and significant cars ever assembled. Its as much an esoteric collection of mechanical and design perfection as it is a group of automobiles.

Hmmmm, maybe I could look into a quick 24 hr. sidebar trip to Paris.....
